Sesame Street Fun

All eyes on the show...Sesame Street Live 2012
Ella is feeling much better and it was time to have some fun this past weekend. Erin and Lucy came for a visit and we went to see Sesame Street Live. They got all dressed up in their pretty dresses and hit the theater like the two sassy girls they are!

This was the second time we have taken Ella to a live show. She enjoyed it last year...but LOVED it this year. I don't think she blinked the entire time. She was totally engrossed in the singing and dancing and of course all of her favorite characters. Lucy was pretty happy too, but sitting still is not that fun for Lucy. She would have much rather been up on the stage dancing along side Elmo :-)

Getting ready to dig into her ice cream sundae.
After the show, we treated the girls to dinner at Friendly's. Not the fanciest of places, but perfect for our two little monkeys. They chowed down on chicken fingers and finished off a really fun day with some ice cream sundaes. We need to fatten Ella up. She lost about four pounds (four more than she could afford to lose) while she was in the hospital. She is literally a rack of bones now, so it was great to see her dig into her sundae and finish every last bite!

I think Ella smiled almost all day long. She was so happy to be out and about doing something fun, spending time with family, and of course enjoying a sweet treat. It put a smile on my face too and warmed my heart. I have spent so much time worrying about her and keeping such a close eye on her that you forget to enjoy the little moments. Time goes by so quickly. I need to remind myself of that constantly and take that extra moment to enjoy her precious laugh and beaming smile.

mmmm...the cone is the best part!

Happy Halloween! (A day later...)

Happy Halloween! What a fun weekend we had celebrating with family and friends. Ella dressed up as Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street this year...and I may be biased, but she was the cutest little Abby I have ever seen! My mom custom made her costume to be a nearly EXACT replica of the real thing. (I'm really hoping Ella gets her creative genes!) She was very excited to be all dressed up as her favorite character. She wore her Abby costume all day on Halloween!
Ella and The Nan at the parade!

Everyone all bundled up for the parade!
Halloween wouldn't be complete in my family without a trip to the annual Halloween parade in Woburn. We always went to the parade as kids, then we were in the parade during middle school and high school and now it's even more fun to take our kids back. This is the second year Ella has made the event. It was also the second year that we made it a family affair.

Lucy and I getting ready for her first parade.
She LOVED it!
There are lots of "little Lally's" in Woburn, so a big group of us decided to meet at my grandmothers to catch the parade together. We ended up having nine little ones running around. It was chaos...but in a good way of course! This year we had to bundle up too since it was FREEZING outside.

Our little Abby was not the happiest at the parade. The chilly weather and lack of nap made her less than impressed to be out and about at the parade. She rallied as long as she could and then sleep won out!

Sleepy Ella!

Summer Scorcher

We survived the summer scorcher! The July heat wave set records all over the country. It was 103 degrees in Boston Friday...the hottest day in 85 years, wowza! Some day it will be fun to tell Pnut how she spent these dog days of summer 2011. We always say she is a weather nerd!
Ella "jumping" off the pool stairs with
her new bubble.

Temps in the 100's made for the perfect excuse to stay poolside for the weekend. Our little fish Ella loved every minute of it. She packed up and shipped off to Woburn on Thursday to hang out for a few days early while Jason and I finished up a busy work week (he was at Princeton for the week, I was sneezing my way through a horse allergy and opening day at the Saratoga race track!)

It was so hot outside, that it was pool or bust at the Nan's house all day Friday and Saturday. She is so comfortable in the water and would stay in there all day if we let her. We decided to try a new swim bubble this weekend. It allows her arms to be free and keeps her head out of the water. I wasn't sure how she would do with the new freedom in the water. She is used to bobbing around in her float or being held. I probably shouldn't have worried...she took to the bubble like she had been wearing it for years. She was kicking her feet and had a blast "jumping" off the stairs. I think we spent at least half the day in the pool! By the time I had her wrapped in her towel, she could barely keep her eyes open.

My tired little fish after hours in the pool.
All the pool fun was made even sweeter since it was shared with my niece Lucy. The girls are 17 months apart and are (usually) pretty cute together. It is a lot of fun to see them playing
in the water. They both looked too cute for words in there bathing suits and summer hats
(courtesy of Sophie & Me) The girls seem to motivate each other. Lucy is crawling now and the
baby-on-the-go has Ella moving more too. Both girls will do whatever it takes to get to the
Nan too. That's when things get competitive...haha! It's wonderful that they are able to spend
time together. I hope they grow into good friends :-)

Ella and Lucy July 23, 2011.
We're looking forward to more pool time, bubbles and good fun in the sun. Vacation is just around the corner. We're off to Lake Michigan in two weeks. I can't wait to see how Ella does at the beach!
